With the 2018 season fast approaching, it’s getting close to the time for the winter builds to break cover and one driver to already do just that was Conor Shanahan, who unveiled his 2018 build at January’s Autosport International show in Birmingham’s NEC back on January 10th.
The 14 year-old Cork-native is set to take the Irish and British Drift Championship by storm this year, running his first full season at Pro level in both series and his newly refreshed Nissan 180sx is no stranger to battle, even seeing plenty of silverware and podium glory in its time.
The 2017 Pro-Am champion has of course already proved himself amongst the big boys, after finishing 14th in the IDC’s Pro class in 2017 (despite not having a Pro licence) and taking home 3rd place overall in the 2017 British Drift Championship Pro class, only 5 points behind older brother Jack. 2018 however will see Conor faced with his biggest challenge to date behind the wheel of the 180sx.
In an attempt to aid Conor’s hardest season to date, title partners of the Irish Drift Championship, Link Engine Management and primary partner Westlake Tyres have both stepped in in a major way to assist Conor’s 2018 programme, in a bid to help propel the youngster to the top of the championship come the end of the season.
Can Conor put it all to good use and make sure his name is the one engraved on the trophy at the end of the season? It’s almost time to find out!
Not just visiting the Autosport Show to unveil his car’s new look however, Conor topped off his weekend by performing to over 30,000 spectators in the Autosport International Show’s live-action arena alongside 2017 Formula Drift champion James Deane.
So that just about wraps up our first look at Conor Shanahan’s 2018 Link Engine Management and Westlake Tyres Nissan 180sx build. We hope you enjoyed it, but more importantly, we want to answer one simple question for us:
Which driver’s 2018 build do you want us to bring you next?
