Post thumbnail IADC Round 4 Postponed

by Cian Leonard 28th February 2018

As the weather around the country of Ireland looks set to worsen over the coming days under the pressure of Storm Emma and with Met Éireann issuing a red weather warning for parts of Leinster, including Co. Kildare where Mondello Park is based, we have had to make the very difficult decision to unfortunately postpone the proposed final of the 2017/18 Irish Amateur Drift Championship (IADC) which was due to take place at the circuit this Saturday, March 3rd, 2018.

Instead of the initial date above, the event has now been rescheduled and will take place on a never before used section of the Mondello Park International Loop on Saturday, March 24th, 2018. The entry price for this new event date will remain at just €10.00 per person, with kids 12 and under attending for free and more information regarding the schedule can be found by clicking here.

Although this postponement is the very last thing we wanted to have to do, in the interest of the safety of our drivers, fans, sponsors, media personnel, staff members, track staff and any party in any way affiliated with this Saturday’s event, many of whom would be travelling from far and wide to attend or compete at the event and may find it difficult to travel to the event, we feel it is the right thing to do at this point in time in order to ensure everyone’s safety.

As well as from a safety perspective, with 20 Irish Drift Championship (IDC) Pro-Am licenses up for grabs this season and with many drivers still well and truly in the running for these licenses – as well as for the overall championship and the prize fund that comes with that – we feel it is only fair to ensure all drivers have the best possible chance of doing their all on the track to either win the championship or gain one of the 20 available licenses, without the weather effectively ruling out their chances of either.

We do hope you understand that this was a difficult decision and one we did not take lightly. We have been monitoring the situation closely and liaising with Mondello Park management directly throughout the course of this week, but unfortunately it has come to the point where there was simply no other option other than to postpone the event.

We would of course like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this postponement, but we look forward to seeing you all on the Mondello Park International Loop on Saturday, March 24th.
